Oli Haukur Valtýsson is a Published Photographer and Photo Guide based in Reykjavik, Iceland.
When he's not spending quality time with his family (he's a proud father of three girls), Oli is busy capturing stunning landscapes and leading world-class Photo Tours in Iceland and around the world.
With over a decade of experience, Oli is one of the most experienced Photo Guides in the game. He's also an expert at shooting weddings, especially against the beautiful backdrop of Icelandic landscapes, editorial, portraits, events, advertising and now videography, all that makes him a very well rounded Photographer as you can see from his portfolio.

Oli’s passion for photography traces back to his early teenage years, hovering around his mother’s work, but she was a photo retoucher in one of the most popular studios in Reykjavík, before there was PhotoShop. Oli Haukur graduated as a system analyst and with photography being his main hobby. For years, the camera was never far. Over time, his designer skills grew through his IT specialization and Oli Haukur became a pioneer in 3D designs, Web design and for years he taught different classes in IT and Photoshop, both in Private and Public schools. Oli got into computer early and into graphic design, making advertising for print and then expanded to web site design and programming.
Strongly passionate about photography Oli Haukur started freelancing in 2009. It was then in 2011 that he took a giant step turning his passion into a full time career. Simultaneously studying photography at the New York Institute of Photography and at The Technical College of Reykjavik, to widen his horizon and get his degree in Photography. Moving away from his day job in advertising and focusing on professional photography, his talent and passion advanced onto a new plateau. Gradually he established himself as a photographer with a reputation of effortless combinations between nature and fine arts in his portraits..
SOCIAL MEDIA
I would hardly be considered a Social Media wonder :-) I’m busy with work but I do try to stay in the game… but I try to do it with quality content, something I put thought in and provides value… and not focusing on Clickbait stuff soli made for likes. I beliave that approach will give more success in the long run… im not in a hurry :-)
I have a combined reach of about 50-60,000 people across all my social media accounts.
Olih is a great teacher and instructor and soon started posting short tutorials on the Oli H Facebook site. Olih is widely known on social media, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
The Oli Haukur Valtysson YouTube channel is a mix of tutorials, travel stories, interesting interviews and Oli´s daily tasks and thoughts.
Oli’s published work include e.g. books, websites, magazines and newspapers and he holds excellent production knowledge and experience in photography.
ICELAND EN ROUTE
Olih co-founded EnRoute in 2012 through which he offers photography services, bespoke workshops and photo tours around Iceland and several other countries.

En Route’s 10 year old birthday
Fellow travelers on his tours report of his wealth of knowledge about photographic technology and his excellent guiding skills with great knowledge of Iceland; the sagas, the history and geology. Olih is a brilliant mentor with years of experience in teaching both computer skills and photo editing as a background. He easily sweeps people onto new dimensions with his adventurous enthusiasm to capture the perfect photo and in addition has a very distinct humor, encouraging laughs on his tours which makes people seek his company as much as he enjoys theirs. Along with Oli´s photography expertise, he is a fountain of knowledge on the island´s politics and everyday life with honest and refreshing attitude.
Although he has already made a treasure chest of invaluable images from Iceland, Olih tirelessly seeks new footage and perspectives and on his adventures to do so finds great joy in introducing and sharing his findings with new people.
Olih travels to Vietnam, Mongolia, Bolivia, Norway and more annually leading Photo Workshops. After a few visits to Vietnam his visits became longer and longer due to his interest in the countries history related to the Vietnam War and the welfare system for the less fortunate. He got involved in projects such as Victims of Agent Orange, Victims of Acid Attacks, Homes for the Elderly, Orphants of Vietnam, Lavin Home for the disabled. With giving the causes a voice and publishing photo essays to draw the worlds attention to them.
