Lofoten - Norway Winter Photo Tour
8 Day Winter Dream
January 19 – 26, 2024
The stunning region of Lofoten in North Norway is renowned for its awe-inspiring landscape photography opportunities. With its breathtaking snow-capped mountains, gorgeous beaches, and surreal Northern Lights displays, it's no wonder why it's considered one of the best places in the world for this craft.
What's even more incredible is that within this relatively small area lie many world-class locations, so you won't have to endure long drives to reach them. This means more time capturing amazing shots and less time traveling.
For the Lofoten tour in 2024, I partnered with Kah-Wai Lin, an experienced photo guide and an exceptional photographer. He is also a great person to be around, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. Together, we'll create an unforgettable winter adventure in Lofoten for you.ITINERARY
Day 1, Arrival – Evenes
Our Arctic adventure will begin as soon as we meet up at Evenes (EVE) and get comfortable in our spacious minivans. From there, we'll embark on a scenic drive southwest towards the magnificent Lofoten islands.
As we make our way, we'll take the opportunity to introduce ourselves and discuss the exciting itinerary for the upcoming days. Once we arrive at our Basecamp, we'll immediately head out to capture the stunning sunset and Aurora Borealis. When traveling to such a far northern location, we always make sure to check the weather conditions beforehand to ensure the best possible experience.
Day 2 to 4 – Reine
As the sun rises, our minivans will depart from the Basecamp and head towards the charming village of Reine, which is arguably one of the most prized gems of Lofoten. Here, we'll have the opportunity to photograph all the iconic viewpoints, traditional fisherman cabins, jagged granite mountains, and colorful fjords, among many other stunning sights.
The surrounding area and islands are filled with picturesque landscapes, and we'll spend the entire day exploring new angles and perspectives. Some of the highlights of our journey will include locations such as Flakstad (Skagsanden), Fredvang, Nusfjord, Å, Ramberg, Selfjord, and more.
Day 5 to 7 – Leknes
Prepare to immerse yourself in a truly otherworldly experience, where you'll be able to capture one-of-a-kind photos and get lost in the moment. Our location in Leknes puts us in close proximity to world-renowned beaches such as Utakleiv, Haukland, Unstad, and Vik, all of which are ideal for viewing the spectacular Auroral activity.
During our expedition, we'll be chasing the unique Arctic light and exploring the aforementioned beaches, as well as Ballstad, Vareid, Myrland, and Valberg. Although the Auroras are a natural phenomenon and not to be taken for granted, they are still an almost daily sight for the locals living in this rural part of the north. The magical lights shining in the sky are a sight to behold, with no two photos of this mesmerizing light ever being the same.
Day 8 – Departure / Evenes
Once we've savored our breakfast and said our final goodbyes, we'll head back to Evenes Airport (EVE) with ample time for you to catch your flight home. Prepare to depart with not only amazing images but also unforgettable memories of this extraordinary experience.
